Overview

When the author's husband, Alan, started on his downward spiral into dementia, their work with monarch butterfly conservation gave him a perfect distraction and her an antidote for despair. She has written articles, essays, book reviews, and columns for business and consumer magazines and newspapers, including the Los Angeles Times (book reviews and travel articles). She was a college instructor (Santa Ana College, PACE University, White Plains), and worked in bookstore management for Rizzoli International Bookstores (Costa Mesa branch). She has a bachelor's in philosophy from San Francisco State, and master's degrees from CSU Fullerton (journalism) and from Claremont Graduate University (History of Religions/Buddhism).
