I'd like to think of it as poetry for people who don't do poetry. But only you can be the judge of that. Literal, lateral. Metaphorical, parabolical. Down to earth. Off with the pixies. Head in the clouds. Feet on the ground. The stuff of life. A sometimes straight ahead and sometimes sideways look at the things that drive us, the things that make us who we are. ABOUT THE AUTHORMartin Fawkes' love of word play began at an early age.""I remember writing poems in primary school, and the teacher calling my parents in to chat about them, like I'd done something really good, which I never quite believed"". Over time, however, it dawned on him this word play might be worth pursuing. Subsequent years in rock bands meant lots of songwriting, honing his poetry and storytelling skills into musical form.Spoken word gigs followed, as did chapbooks and self-published collections of poetry and lyrics.Now, many years later, here we are, a properly published poet. Love, Devotion, Surrender is one of a four part sequence, celebrating a lifetime of writing.
