Love and Hate

Overview

Ex-CIA officer Tate McCormick never meant to come home to Santa Barbara like this-raw, furious, and drowning in a grief she can't discuss with her family or anyone else. Haunted by a disastrous black ops mission that killed her lover in Iraq, she knows only one thing: hate. Hate for the terrorists, hate for herself, and hate for the world that let it happen. When she meets a magnetic ex-Marine who shares her fury, she leaps at the intoxicating distraction from her grief-just two broken warriors drowning their demons together. But then the FBI comes calling with questions she can't ignore and dangers she hasn't envisioned. She finds herself pulled back into the shadowy world she's tried to leave behind, as the political issues of terrorism, patriotism, and white supremacy threaten harm to her family and to Santa Barbara. Caught between trauma and duty, between the past and the present, Tate must make the ultimate choice: let her future be dictated by the seductive power of hate or the more challenging, redemptive power of love?

Author Information

Lisa Frieden grew up in California, with a side trip around the world as a kid, college in Cambridge, and a few unforgettable years in Santa Barbara. She's read everything from William Shakespeare, Virginia Woolf, and Toni Morrison, to Sue Grafton, Elizabeth Lowell, and Jayne Ann Krentz. Her own books reflect this diversity, from DIALYSIS: A MEMOIR, to her romantic suspense: THE OFFERING and FINDING CLARITY, to her mystery, LOVE AND MONEY. Her most recent book, LOVE AND HATE, is more of a psychological thriller. For updated author info, please visit: www.lisafrieden.com.
