Lost in the Fog: Some Things Should Remain Buried

Overview

INSPIRED BY ACTUAL EVENTS BASED ON THE AWARD-WINNING SCREENPLAY 'LOST IN THE FOG' (2024) BY G. V. BLOOME ""Absolutely terrifying..."" Dark Screen Pages ""I was afraid to turn a page. Too frightening,"" Marianne B. ""The descriptions are too intense when you get to chapter 7, and on..."" Mike S. PITCH- The retreat intended for relaxation quickly devolves into a horror experience due to unexpected supernatural events. LOGLINE- Cloistered within their fog-choked rental cabin in the woods of Brunswick Town North Carolina, the urban couple's three-day retreat twists from digital detox into a haunting siege. The local legends of a ""deadly fog"" seem like quaint folklore until the mist itself, a luminous and suffocating wall, swallows the tree line just beyond their porch. On a whim, they decide to document the eerie phenomenon, aiming their phone's camera into the swirling grey. However, they regret their decision soon after they realize that the forces they are playing with are not of a benevolent kind. SUMMARY- Exhausted by the incessant clamor and concrete canyons of city life, Sarah and Roy slowly navigate the winding backroads leading to their isolated rental cabin, located deep within the shadowed woods surrounding Brunswick Town, North Carolina. The air instantly feels cooler, thicker with the scent of pine and approaching fog, a welcome change from exhaust fumes and traffic noise. However, when they dive headfirst into the town's grim annals, unearthing harrowing tales of its horrific history- a devastating fire that consumed the fledgling port, and a subsequent, inexplicable plague that decimated the few survivors- they quickly regret their decision. The legendary ""Death Fog"" is mentioned in cryptic photos, a phenomenon believed to be the lingering consciousness of the wronged and the lost, forever replaying their final, agonizing moments. However, as they continue to feed their curiosity, the fog becomes no longer a mysterious backdrop; it is a living, malevolent entity, its hungry ghosts actively seeking victims, thickening around the roads leading out of town, making escape an increasingly treacherous proposition. Sarah and Roy watch in horror as the awakened events begin to manifest with terrifying physicality: phantom shadows walk by old timbers, the screams of the dying echo from empty lots, and the very ground beneath them seems to shift with spectral energy. The realization strikes them with brutal force: they aren't just observing history; they are being pulled into it, becoming part of the tableau. Their initial quest for fun discovery morphs into a desperate fight for survival. With every passing moment, the escape routes narrow, the fog coalesces into an almost solid wall, and the town's grip tightens. They know they have to flee, abandoning their personal things, their hard-won evidence, and the terrifying truth they'd uncovered, before they too are consumed by Brunswick Town's eternal, spectral embrace, regardless of the untold consequences that await them, or the town, if they fail to escape. Will they make it out of this terrifying malevolent phenomenon, or will they perish along with the wailing spirits of the town's daunting past..?
