OverviewStep back in time to one of Wisconsin's oldest cities Green Bay has seen numerous landmarks and industries come and go over the centuries. Built during a tuberculosis epidemic, the Hickory Grove sanatorium nobly served its purpose, and then its ruins sat empty for years, tempting local youth to explore them. Henry's Hamburgers, a chain that once rivaled McDonald's, fed Green Bay's east side for a decade before shuttering. The Port Plaza Mall and the Brown County Arena created memories for several generations before they were both torn from the landscape. From beaver pelts to paper, from trading posts to the first businesses, journalist and author Kris Leonhardt chronicles the structures that once called the Greater Green Bay area home.
