She set up the roc Loss and Bereavement Service for people with learning disabilities in 1997 and is co-ordinator of the GOLD group (Growing Older with Learning Disabilities), part of the Foundation for People with Learning Disabilities UK. She organised national conferences on dying, loss and bereavement for people with learning disabilities in 1999 and 2000, and has presented numerous papers on the subject.
