OverviewLord’s Cricket Ground was established by the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) at its current site in 1814, and has since become known as the ‘Home of Cricket’. Over the years, Lord’s has evolved into a magnificent cricket ground, blending historic buildings, such as the Victorian Pavilion, with modern, state-of-the-art structures. Within its walls, Lord’s contains many memorials honouring cricket’s history and the MCC members and cricketers associated with this famous old ground. Several stands are named in memory of leading cricketers for whom Lord’s was their home ground. The famous Long Room in the Pavilion and the MCC Museum hold priceless cricket memorabilia. Cricketers who lost their lives in the world wars are honoured, and even some of the gates to the ground commemorate cricketing greats. This illustrated photographic history of Lord’s Cricket Ground, told through its memorials, will appeal to cricket enthusiasts everywhere.
