English summary: Since the 1690s the circle of people around August Hermann Francke had established a dense communications network that was not subject to territorial limits. An essential reference point was the city of London. London was of key importance for the effectiveness of the networks and fields of activity established by the Halle orphanage, from both a European and an intercontinental perspective (e.g. India, North America). This anthology, which is the result of a joint meeting of the Francke Foundations in Halle and the German Historical Institute in London, examines the actors, media, procedures, topographies, themes, intentions and frictions that were part of the history of communication in the 18th century. The volume thus makes a very important contribution to the history of transnational communication in the early modern period. German description: Der Personenkreis um August Hermann Francke etablierte seit den 1690er-Jahren ein dichtes, nicht an territorialen Grenzen orientiertes Kommunikationssystem. Ein wesentlicher Bezugspunkt war dabei die Metropole London. London war von zentraler Bedeutung fur die Wirkmachtigkeit der vom Halleschen Waisenhaus aus generierten Netzwerke und Handlungsraume sowohl in europaischer als auch in transkontinentaler Perspektive (Indien, Nordamerika). Der aus einer gemeinsamen Tagung der Franckeschen Stiftungen zu Halle und des Deutschen Historischen Instituts London hervorgegangene Sammelband untersucht Akteure, Medien, Verfahrensweisen, Topografien, Themen, Intentionen und Friktionen dieser Kommunikationsgeschichte im 18. Jahrhundert. Aufbauend auf Quellenbefunden werden die hallisch-englischen Kommunikationen und Inhalte im pietistischen Feld in ihren historischen Kontexten untersucht, woruber spannungsreiche, auf die handelnden Menschen fokussierte Lebenswelten sichtbar werden. Der Band leistet so einen ausserst wichtigen Beitrag zur transnationalen Kommunikationsgeschichte der Fruhen Neuzeit.
