OverviewThe manuscript - long believed to be irretrievably lost - of Heidegger's lecture Logik als die Frage nach dem Wesen der Sprache, already published in 1998 based on a postscript of one of Heidegger's students as Volume 38 of the Gesamtausgabe, is now being published newly as Volume 38A. In this lecture, Heidegger attempts at bringing about a shattering of logic, entailing a changed relationship towards language which in turn is bound to effectuate a change in man's conception of himself. The modern age beginning with Descartes is to give way to a new age by way of a revolution. The lecture reacts to the National Socialist seizure of power in 1933 by explicitly pointing out that it does not mean to summon its listeners for eager participation. It offers yet another example of how inimitably Heidegger succeeded in drawing his listeners into the realm of his revolution of thought.
