Alicia Bay Laurel, a California native, began writing, illustrating and designing her best-selling sustainable living manual, Living on the Earth, at age 19 while living at Wheeler Ranch open land commune. It has been published five times in English, including the upcoming 50th anniversary edition from Echo Point Books & Media, as well as in Japanese, Spanish and Korean editions. The book has been featured in 3 museum exhibitions about counterculture, and chosen as one of the 101 most influential US cookbooks of the 20th century (although it's not strictly a cookbook - it is instructions for living close to nature and making things by hand from sustainable materials).Alicia has written or co-written and illustrated and designed 5 other books, illustrated many books by other authors, and sells her artwork both as licensed or commissioned drawings printed on environmentally conscious merchandise, and as fine art in galleries. She also tours as a singer/songwriter/guitarist/storyteller in the USA, Japan and Spain, and has self-produced 8 albums of original and historic songs.
