Wm. Theodore de Bary is John Mitchell Mason Professor Emeritus and Provost Emeritus of Columbia University. He is the author of many books, most recently Nobility and Civility: Asian Ideals of Leadership and the Common Good and the editor of the seminal readers published by Columbia University Press: Sources of Chinese Tradition, Sources of Japanese Tradition, and Sources of Korean Tradition.
