Living in the Moment on Nature's Time: A Photographer's Perspective of Wisconsin's Landscapes, Wildlife, and Flowers

Overview

I never thought I could live my dream. I never thought I could actually be considered a nature photographer. When I was in college I was envious of the newspaper photographers who could make a living with photography. For me, life got in the way a little...family and my real career and earning a paycheck took precedence. I thought I had it all - a great job and money, a devoted husband (who still shares our adventures with me), kids, house and a dog. But through 1,000s of nature photos taken over the last three plus years and over 20 years of understanding photography, I have learned that the struggles and what I have been through are a direct correlation to nature's toughness, resilience, and cyclical nature.

Author Information

Lisa Carey has been fascinated with photography since she was young. This passion resulted in her minoring in photography in college and a career in print advertising fine tuned her visual eye. After being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, raising three children, and then surviving cancer during the Covid pandemic, Lisa found that diving back into photography was just what she needed and found it a distraction she loves. With her camera at hand throughout her day, she finds capturing moments of nature to be very therapeutic. Lisa began posting a photo a day on Instagram to document her photography, has won photography awards at the Northern Wisconsin State Fair, and will be publishing an inspirational book in 2025 about her life's journey and purpose.
