Author Information

Russell K. Symmes (Russ) was an entrepreneur in video, film production, and travel. He was diagnosed with a life-threatening brain tumor at the age of thirty-three and began writing poems after his diagnosis. In 1996, he was presented with the Editor's Choice Award for Outstanding Achievement in Poetry by The National Library of Poetry. He dedicated his life to help other newly diagnosed brain cancer patients through The Bloch Cancer Hotline until his death in 2002. Russ lived a life of adventure with his wife, Louisa, family, and many friends. He never missed an ASU football game. He was known by many as The Big Kahuna, a nickname given while a linebacker for Arizona State University. Louisa M. Percudani is an Emmy Award Nominated Television Producer, Coach, and Speaker. She is dedicated to the legacy of her husband Russ to give newly diagnosed or those living with cancer the encouragement to live now and never give up. Louisa is also a breast cancer thriver and is currently working on her soon to be released memoir. She loves to connect at louisapercudani.com.
