Live Fast, Die Young: Be a Handsome Corpse

Overview

Some of the events in this book took place in the sixties and seventies. Some are humorous and some are gut wrenching and will stay with me until the day I die. Live Fast, Die Young-Be A Handsome Corpsetakes place in a time when the funeral was a cultural, family and community experience and the Funeral Director was looked up to as a profession and integral part of the community. I did want to share with you some of the memories that took place in a time that will never be again, and some of them may eventually be lost in time. But for those of you who choose to read about them you may find a little humor or a some nostalgia as you read through the pages.

Author Information

Paget A. Newbury is a retired funeral director having served seventeen years in the funeral profession. After those seventeen years as a funeral director I did a mid life change and bought a one hundred and forty year old hardware business in the same town that I worked as a funeral director and proceeded to expand on that business until I retired in 1995, and moved to a little town in upstate New York nestled in the foot hills of the Adirondack mountains on the Great Sacandaga Lake. So now I sit with my wife Faye on our dock as I have for the past fourteen years and enjoy gently sipping a martini and watch the sun set slowly in the west and remember those days over fifty years ago, WHAT A LIFE!
