Chiara died in October of 2010. Before his passing, he served as a Retreat Director and Spiritual Guide to parishes in Brooklyn and Rockville Center, and at the Immaculate Conception Seminary in Huntington, NY. He spent the last 30 years of his life at Saint Mary's Parish in East Islip where he was Pastor for 9 years and Pastor Emeritus for 21 years. He wrote the beloved title, Liturgy and Laity, in 1964.
