Reviews

Jenny Bower's rhyming text, which notes the changing weather and wildlife, is gentle and melodic, perfect for reading aloud. Her illustrations are stunning. From the icy blues and greys of winter to the rich reds and warm oranges of autumn, each double-page spread has a palette of its own and is colour coded to evoke each season in young minds and memories. Flashes of greens, pinks and purples tie everything together beautifully and add surprise elements to each page. Bower's bright, bold colour choices are unexpected and elevate this from just another 'season' book. Her cast of characters reappear across the busy pages in different places so that we can search for them throughout the book and chart their journey too. With its hard cover and thick pages, this robust book is welcoming to young hands. Easy to hold and to handle, with plenty to discover, Little Tree is a great learning experience to share with little ones. -- The Illustrated Forest http://www.theillustratedforest.com
