When anxious kids say ""no way!"" to change and new experiences, let Little Pumpkin guide them to a happy ""way okay!"" It's autumn, and Little Pumpkin is picked from the familiar field and taken to a pumpkin run. Surrounded by the diverse crowd, anxious Little Pumpkin notices runners, walkers and kids in wheelchairs holding gourds that look different from those in the patch and is worried about being in this big new world for the first time. When the run begins, everyone takes off, including the child holding Little Pumpkin. Engaging with the differently shaped and colored gourds, Little Pumpkin discovers that all are pumpkins even though they don't look the same, that they all can feel sad, mad or glad, and that all can be friends despite their differences. Little Pumpkin also discovers why this is called a pumpkin run. It is not that pumpkins run, but that people carry pumpkins during the race. By the finish line, Little Pumpkin is happy, confident and looking forward to more adventures with the child in a new home.
