Author Information

Southern born, from the foothills of the North Carolina mountains, Mary Emma Tisinger now calls the flatlands of Delaware home. Having fallen in love with books before learning to read, she now hopes to share the joy of the written word, and the magic of storyland, with others through her poetry and other writings. Mother of three and grandmother of three, she has worked with children in public school and in church school. At home in Dover, she keeps busy as a volunteer in her church, club, and the community--in addition to her writing. Johannes Christian's artistic journey began amidst adversity. In 2006, a catastrophic earthquake left his home in ruins, thrusting him into freelancing to fund its reconstruction. The house he painstakingly rebuilt inspired the setting for Ethan and The Pledge, a testament to his resilience and creativity. A proud art school graduate, Johannes is a lifelong learner, constantly honing his craft in digital illustration. He finds joy in every stage of the creative process, from the spark of an initial sketch to the polished final artwork. For years, Johannes worked as a ghost artist for a third-party company, bringing hundreds of stories to life through his illustrations while remaining behind the scenes. His talent shines in works like The Scissor Sergeant and General Glue by Megan Beard and Lisha Hernandez, where his vibrant illustrations captivate readers. Now based in Indonesia, Johannes lives with his wife, Betty, and their two sons, Aaron and Boaz, where he continues to create art that inspires and tells stories of hope and perseverance.
