Overview

This historic book may have numerous typos and missing text. Purchasers can download a free scanned copy of the original book (without typos) from the publisher. Not indexed. Not illustrated. 1901 edition. Excerpt: ...Whatever gold, silver, or troops he might need for the purpose should be his. However, Pausanias behaved in a very unwise manner, and his freaks so disgusted the allies that they could put up with him no longer. For they felt sure that Pausanias would come to him there. Nor were they wrong. He went to the hut, and the ephors heard enough to make his guilt evident. Soon after they met him in the street, when one of them, a friend of his, made him a sign, to let him see that all was known. Pausanias caught its meaning and...
