Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationRay Doiron is a professor at the University of Prince Edward Island where he helps prepare new early literacy teachers for the classroom. A former primary teacher and teacher-librarian, Ray used children's literature and multimedia resources as the foundation for his literacy program. Committed to building student literacy achievement, he is passionate about motivating children to become lifelong readers. A workshop leader on topics around school librarianship, he is actively pursuing research on the connection between literacy and libraries. Marlene Asselin began her career as an early childhood teacher and was head teacher at the University of British Columbia Study Centre from 1983-1987. Now an associate professor at UBC, Marlene's research interests are in literacy education, information literacy, and school librarianship. Her literacy courses introduce new teachers to the world of children's literature, and the important partnerships they need to make with teacher-librarians.
