Oggi possiamo constatare che il bwiti svolge un ruolo molto importante tra i Pové. Questo bwiti, che si dice sia di origine pigmea, è stato trasmesso agli Apindji, vicini dei Pigmei. Secondo diverse fonti orali, il bwiti è stato trasmesso ai Pové dai Massango, loro vicini intorno al Monte Iboundji. Va notato che questo bwiti, ricevuto dai Massango, è stato sviluppato dai Pové.
