Reviews

It can be stated that Chapters 1-9 cover the usual standard material of basic linear algebra, whereas Chapters 10-12 offer a wealth of additional applied topics. The latter are presented in a very elaborated and detailed form, which makes the present book particularly valuable for a wide audience of students in applied sciences. In view of its outstanding lucidity, its numerous instructive examples and carefully selected sets of exercises, its computer-oriented hints, and its steady focus on the interplay between theory and practice, the present book is by far much more than just another standard text in linear algebra. Rather, it is fairly unique in both its user-friendly disposition and its pronounced versatility, which certainly will be appreciated by a wide audience of students and instructors in various sciences. Werner Kleinert (Berlin) in Zentralblatt Mathematik
