OverviewThe aim of this book is to show that scientific and spiritual quests are one and the same. The search for truth, the truth of our existence, is one in which consciousness is its essential reality that drives and unifies all, at every level of existence, seen and unseen. Views from the foundations of science, philosophy and spirituality are presented. Adnani highlights the key discoveries that lead to paradigm shifts in our evolution of consciousness, and how these shifts have brought us closer to the nature of reality that must exist at every level from the simple to the complex, and the inanimate to the sentient. It is the absolute certainty of our existence. The nature of reality is presented as a series of models or views that are more meditations on the self, rooted in the science of consciousness, since any description of reality can only be communicated in a limited fashion through words. In this book, the foundations of science and spirituality are explored with the aim to present a unified view integrating the objective outer view and the subjective inner view as a science of Oneness free from conflict. Table of ContentsReviewsBy Shaykh Fadhlalla Haeri This book is a most wonderful modern presentation of the seamless connection between science, technology and spirituality. A magnificent tapestry that thrills whoever reflects upon its beauty and wholesomeness. Human destiny follows the arc of ascent in consciousness and those who yield to its power will taste the bliss of perfection irrespective of its appearance and impact in the outer sense. The human soul is the sacred presence that gives life to humanity whilst sparkling with the delight of divinity. That is the intended human destiny. Dr Adnan shares all of this generously with the reader. --Shaykh Fadhlalla Haeri, Author, Philosopher, Historian Prophets, mystics, scientists, philosophers have all participated in the effort to explicate the imperceptible, while knowing the futility of such an effort. Terms such as duality/non-duality; light/shadow; spirit/matter; absolute/contingent; unity/multiplicity are generated to create categories through which we can try to engage with the shadow of imperceptibility, which we sometimes conflate with Truth . In the Light of Consciousness, Adnani brings the perspectives of science into the equation and demonstrates that in spite of its own pretensions, science is merely another agent- albeit a very potent one- in the quest to find or impose certainty on structural ambiguity. In the final analysis, the insights of mystics and quantum scientists, of metaphysicians and prophets, all blend into a universal demand for access to the Truth- while fully conscious of the fact that access to the Truth is a chimerical construct to eternally hide Truth from manifestations of Itself. --Dr. Ali Allawi, author of The Crisis of Islamic Civilization, The Occupation of Iraq and Faisal I of Iraq In Lights of Consciousness, Dr Adnan Adnani takes us on a fascinating journey back and forth across the bridge that unites spirituality and religious cosmology with science and philosophy. On a more personal level, exploring this bridge or barzakh allows us to begin to glimpse beyond either/or and right/wrong--beyond all of the dualities that separate us from each other and from the ineffable opportunities of the present moment. In the Islamic tradition, the prophet Jesus is quoted as saying, The world is a bridge. Cross over it, but don't build your house upon it. Mining the deep wisdom of the Sufi tradition, as well as a scientist's-eye-view of modern research, Dr Adnani shows how one can continue to cross over the bridge, learning all that one can of one's soul on the way. --Dr Neil Douglas-Klotz, author of The Sufi Book of Life and Prayers of the Cosmos.
