OverviewAuthor and first-time writer Michael V. Girard was born on the 28th of June, 1945, in a small village in rural Guyana. He writes mainly about his late wife Joan; how much he and their family owe to her, and the devastation sustained by her loss. Mr. Girard cherishes his upbringing in Guyana and the influence of his father's leadership qualities in building and running the community youth organization, the Boys Brigade. He served as a soldier in Guyana Defense Force (GDF) and had brushes with catastrophe in the river Rio Negro while on a visit to Brazil with his brother Calvin. The unfortunate circumstances that brought his Lovely Native Land to near-ruin, an episode too pertinent and revealing to be precluded from the narrative, spurred his emigration to Queens, New York. Yet, much as he loves his homeland of Guyana, Mr. Girard also unabashedly and boldly showers warm praises on the goodness of his and Joan's adopted country, America.
