Overview

It's about a middle-aged woman named Kristen who is sentenced to seventeen years in prison for committing a white-collar crime. Her immediate family abandons her and she is left alone. Her only contact is with her sister-in-law Olivia, who writes to her through the years. Letters from her sister-in-law keep Kristen connected to the family she's lost. They give her hope that someday she might be given a second chance. Kristen spends her time adjusting to the shock of prison life, developing friendships and enemies of other inmates. She discovers that people aren't always what they seem, love wears many faces, and friendship can make life worth living. But as she struggles to survive on the inside, Kristen must face something even more frightening than her fellow inmates. . . herself.
