Overview

"Writer's Digest Award Winning Author Ginger Barnes knew escorting Bryn Derwyn Academy's most infamous student downtown to be ""scared straight"" by a Federal judge would be tough. She did not expect to discover her childhood babysitter, Professor Charlie Finnemeyer, on trial for fraudulently aging an oriental rug. As witnesses against Gin's dear ""Uncle Wunk"" conveniently suffer natural deaths, fears about Charlie's guilt force the amateur sleuth to make some judicious inquiries. Unlikely suspects include a TV craft show host; the president of a college; a trendy art dealer; and Charlie's suspiciously overprotective wife, whose skill at being in the wrong place at the wrong time isn't helping her husband's case one bit. Gin would love to unravel the murderous scheme in time to persuade the jury of Finnemeyer's innocence, but first she must convince herself."

Reviews

If you're looking for a great mystery with a strong, intelligent, female amateur sleuth to curl up with on a chilly winter evening then look no further...What makes this book particularly interesting is that Ginger is strongly based on the author herself, so you're not entirely sure where the fact ends and the fiction begins...a compelling, lighthearted series that I hope continues indefinitely. Lou UK, Top 100 Reviewer ...can be read as a standalone. Darinda Rainer, NetGalley An added bonus is that I actually learned something about antique textiles...I can't wait to read the rest of the series... 5* Angelia Sukala, NetGalley It is quite funny and I laughed out loud. 5* Edna Gadoury, NetGalley ...a cleverly plotted mystery with an interesting story line and great characters. Murray keeps readers guessing all the way to the end, with twists and turns and red herrings. This engrossing page-turner is a must-read for any lover of cozy mysteries. 5 stars, Heather Stockard for Reader's Favorite

Praise for DONNA HUSTON MURRAY's mysteries I could kick myself for not noticing this series until it reached the eighth installment...I enjoyed every page and greedily want to read all her words. FOR BETTER OR WORSE, 5* DJ Sakata, Top 10 Amazon Reviewer Warm and wonderfully real...Gin is a heroine to cherish, LIE LIKE A RUG, 5* Eleanor V. Miller Murray always weaves an intriguing tale while also expanding our knowledge--in this case--of the art of textiles and antique fraud. I enjoyed LIE LIKE A RUG immensely. Robin Hathaway, Agatha-winning author .. .a real gem of a novel...This book should be picked up and savored! Writer's Digest Judge's comment, WHAT DOESN'T KILL YOU, awarded Honorable Mention in genre fiction This book could easily sit on the shelf with traditionally published novels and beat them hands down. Writer's Digest Judge's comment, WHAT DOESN'T KILL YOU Strong and feisty, Lauren also displays a tender side that is sweetly sentimental. WHAT DOESN'T KILL YOU, PUBLISHER'S WEEKLY ...a story that allows you to be drawn into it, coming alive as though you were actually there...written to grab your attention from page one and not let go until...an ending that you won't see coming. GUILT TRIP, 5* Anne-Marie Reynolds, Readers' Favorite [GUILT TRIP also won Honorable Mention in genre fiction from Writer's Digest] Great characters, no stereotypes, not perfect, but not dumb either. And the plot! Weaves around and around to an ending that leaves the reader wide eyed and breathless. 5* for NO BONES ABOUT IT, Kindle Customer

Author Information

Donna Huston Murray's cozy mystery series features an amateur sleuth much like herself, a DIY headmaster's wife with a troubling interest in crime. Both novels in her new mystery/crime series won Honorable Mention in genre fiction from Writer's Digest. FOR BETTER OR WORSE was a Finalist for The National Indie Excellence Award in Mystery. In real life Donna assumes she can fix anything until proven wrong, calls trash-picking recycling, and although she should probably know better by now, adores Irish setters. Donna and husband, Hench, live in the greater Philadelphia, PA, USA.
