His American roots are in Indiana, yet he was born in Philadelphia, grew-up in Florida, went to school in Texas, and has lived his adult life in the pacific northwest. He is a licensed mental health counselor and has spent his professional career working in the public mental health system. Dave and his wife, Penny, spend as much time as possible with family throughout the south and midwest--especially with children and grand-children in Ann Arbor and Atlanta, and his parents in Tampa. He holds a BA in American intellectual history and literature from the University of Texas at Austin and an MA in the applied behavioral science program at the Leadership Institute of Spokane and Whitworth College (now a program with the Leadership Institute of Seattle and Saybrooke University).
