Level 1: Island for Sale Teacher Support Programme

Overview

Little Sister's Inn has everything Lucy West is looking for. Quiet, solitude, and an escape from her suffocating reality. With her parents' tragic deaths, their thumbs have finally been lifted, and Lucy-free for the first time in her life-wants nothing more than to be alone with her thoughts and figure out who she really is. Except the inn appears to breathe. An entity that shifts in the corner of her eye. That invades her mind. Warps her thoughts. Or perhaps it's the proprietor, Mina, who is the puppet master and Lucy her willing puppet? The longer Lucy stays on the property, the less she feels like herself. The more the inn bleeds into her veins. The more tantalizing Mina and the company she keeps becomes. Torn between being the good, obedient woman who should run back to her safe, unfulfilling life and this thing slowly being torn asunder to show her exactly who she is, Lucy must make a decision - escape or give herself to the monsters who dwell in the shadows. The Inn of Beautiful Remains is an experimental, pseudo-epistolary, erotic horror novella (emphasis on horror) inspired by The Lost Boys and Dracula and told in regular narrative style while interspersed with progressively deteriorating emails and text messages. While it is contemporarily set, it's gothic at heart and explores themes of isolation, fragile sanity, the desire to conform or rebel, and revels in the slow pulse of dread that explodes into full-blown terror. This book is good for readers that trend toward more extreme horror, are okay with ambiguity, and are interested in having their heads screwed with. Not for the faint of heart.

Author Information

Rian Adara is a multi-genre author who has a deep love of morally gray (or black) characters, writing with a hint (or a lot) of darkness, and varying levels of spice. She enjoys destroying her readers with her words and riling them up at the same time. And may or may not derive joy from creeping them out too. When she's not writing she's reading, papercrafting, taking moody photos, wrangling her cats, and spending time with her husband. The gothic aesthetic of New England will always be considered home, no matter where she lives. You can find her on her website, www.rianadarabooks.com, or at @rianadarabooks at Instagram, Threads, and Pinterest.
