Overview

"What happens when a believer in Bible Science decides to take evolution for a test drive and ends up in a theological ditch? After embarking on a journey to discover if his intelligent design roots could survive whatever evolutionary thought could throw down, Calvin Wray hit the theological wall. Experience the panic that ensues when faith flatlines and feel the rush that comes when God, not at all freaked out by this science stuff, doesn't just go away.Letters From The Slippery Slope is a slightly off-kilter true story about losing faith in the sandbox of reason only to discover it again. Faith 2.0.This story is for anyone who has struggled to mesh a scientific worldview with their faith. It will change the way you think about God and science and sweet 'n' sour pork and dinosaurs and Sunday school and static electricity and Jesus and biology class and drive-thru pick up windows and atheists and sub sandwiches.""As we journey along the uneven terrain in the creation-evolution debate it is wonderful to encounter a shelter along the way, a place to take off our boots, laugh a little, sit by a warm fire and gather our thoughts. Calvin Wray has provided such a place as he mixes faith, science, wit, honesty, story and humour into a perfect oasis for the weary traveller. We are in desperate need of a fellow pilgrim who has walked the slippery slopes before us. I highly encourage you to read this book; it just might be what you need to make it over that last hill."" Matthew Price - Lead Pastor, North Langley Community Church"

Author Information

"Calvin Wray is a graphic designer and theological hobbyist. He lives in Vancouver, Canada with his first wife and 1.5 dogs. This is his first book. His first book ""Letters From the Slippery Slope"" (Autumn 2015) is a record of his reckless five year journey into the evolution/creation controversy. He is not a science geek or a paleobiologist (only plays one on TV). His lifelong fascination with Genesis and the ongoing debate about how we humans made it to this point in the universe is just that - a fascination. Some guys collect riding mowers or rental property in Phoenix. Calvin Wray ponders the potential of pond scum and has sat on the back porch deep into the night wondering if Cain's wife was really just the girl next door with a knack for making great falafels. The authors hope is that his wrestling with the messy questions of faith and doubt, science and theology, and the always dramatic evolution/creationism standoff will encourage readers to continue asking the big questions."
