Overview

Let's See What the day Brings is a auto- biographical novel about a driven otolaryngologist-head and neck surgeon who experienced loss of his parents as a youth growing up in the Bronx. This led him in part, to focus on academics rather than emotion as he began a successful career. However, in adulthood, following the sudden death of his older brother and fighting his own heart disease, he changed his life to better grow as a person and more holistically serve his patients dealing with stress management, mid facial pain and TMJ problems... As a result, he lost his wife, his reputation and his livelihood while fighting false accusations and legal issues. This novel takes the reader behind the scenes of this high powered surgeon's difficult professional and personal life to understand the stresses and pressures that can make some men break. While he never broke, he cracked. But he sought answers and, Phoenix-like, rose from the ashes of what could have been his early demise, to help others lead better lives. In the process he became a better person and puts the demons of his childhood to rest so that he could get on with his life and eventually get the personal happiness that had eluded him for so many years. This book's version, in addition to my other book Sundays with the Watchmaker's Son are the first ones that deal with these issues since the book A Taste of My Own Medicine by Dr. Edward Rosenbaum and later made into the movie The Doctor . In both of my books, I am an ENT Surgeon with a severe cardiac problem and in his book, he is a cardiologist with a severe ENT problem. In many ways I believe that my story is even more powerful dealing with both very serious medical and legal issues. These two versions are very different presentations of the same basic story, with very different styles of writing and edited by different well known authors as noted on the title pages.

Author Information

Gil Levitt, MD was born in the Bronx, NY in 1936 to a modest home. As a child he learned about religion and faith from his grandfather, watchmaking from his father, unconditional love from his mother, independence from his brother, caring from his sister and loyalty from his friends. Now, approaching 80, he decided to write a biographical novel for his family as his precious gift to them by sharing his journey, his challenges, his beliefs and his philosophy based on his personal life experiences and what is in his heart and what he has learned about the practice of medicine by dealing with stress management issues, mid facial pain and TMJ problems. It is a hero's journey overcoming many great challenges in his life to finally become the person that he wants to be, a loving husband, a proud father and grandfather and a retired successful physician and surgeon with a holistic approach to life connecting mind, body and spirit. His advice to all is threefold: - Remember These ABC's: - A. Always dance like nobody is watching: - B. Be present in the moment: - and C. See what the day brings.
