Scenarios featuring characters in a classroom setting with a teacher are familiar and approachable. Characters ask age-appropriate questions about topics, leading to discussion points for readers. Each title in the series includes three or four chapters, a page of review questions, a brief glossary, a list of further reading resources, and a brief index. Illustrations are colorful and accessible. As an introduction to scientific thinking, this series has a place in an early learning classroom. However, this series is not designed to be a research resource and won't see as much use in a public library. Author Information

Martha E. H. Rustad is the author of more than two hundred nonfiction children's books, on topics ranging from snowflakes to termites to the Statue of Liberty. She lives with her family in Brainerd, Minnesota. Christine M. Schneider owns Yellow Pencil Studio, Inc., an illustration and design studio, and has illustrated a number of picture books. She lives in Lawrence, Kansas, with her husband and daughter.
