Author Information

Dr. Shelley C. Safian has been teaching Health Care Administration, Health Information Management, and Medical Billing and Coding, both onsite and online, for more than 15 years. Safian writes a monthly Q&A column for the online publication Just Coding and writes several articles each year on various aspects of coding. In addition, she is the author of six textbooks. Her newest book, Foundations of Health Care Administration, was released January 2014. Safian is in her fourth year as the chair of the continuing education committee for FHIMA (Florida Health Information Management Association). In the past, she has served on several committees and practice councils on the national, state, and local levels of the American Health Information Management Association. She is a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS-P), a Certified Professional Coder (CPC-H, CPC-I), and an ICD-10-CM/PCS trainer.
