OverviewFr Martin Hogan has been sharing his reflections on the weekday readings on Twitter for some years. He has now put them together in a second volume for 2017/8, following the success of his first collection, To Know the Love of God. This new volume presents a series of reflections on the gospel readings for the Weekdays of the liturgical year that begins on the first Sunday of Advent 2017 and concludes with the feast of Christ the King 2018. Each reflection arises out of engagement with the gospel text and seeks to allow the text to speak to our own human experience. Each reflection is dated to the day that the gospel is proclaimed in the coming liturgical year. The book will appeal to priests in parishes who may wish to prepare a short homily for the weekday Mass, as well as to parishioners who wish to prayerfully reflect on the weekday gospel readings. It is also ideal reading for those involved in the growing number of Lectio Divina groups in parishes.
