Overview

Few tales of disaster at sea are able to convey the survivors' feelings of fear, hopelessness, and horror. This book is one of those successful few...the author, her husband, and their 5-year-old daughter were on a yacht cruise on the Bay of Biscay when they were struck by a storm. Fearing that the yacht was about to sink, the three took to the liferaft in mountainous seas. Less than a week later the husband died. Nine days later, the daughter died. Shortly afterwards, the author was rescued. But that wasn't the end of the story. The media circus took hold.
