Additionally, she has served as the Director of Physical Education and Athletics for the California Academy of Mathematics and Science, on the campus of California State University Dominguez Hills, since 1989. She received her B.S. and M.S. degrees in physical education from Purdue University, and her Ph.D. from the University of Southern California. Her 36 year teaching experience includes instruction in all phases of aquatics, dance, physical education, health, and teaching pedagogy. Prior to her current positions, she taught at the elementary school level, high school levels, and the community college. As a leader in the field, Dr. Casten is a well known presenter at professional conferences nationally and internationally, and has held numerous offices in professional organizations. She conducts in-service training and lectures in school districts. Dr. Casten has been featured in newspapers, on national radio, and television interviews. She has authored numerous journal articles, has contributed to textbooks, has served as a journal reviewer, and has authored Aerobics Today, Aqua Aerobics Today, Lesson Plans for Dynamic Physical Education for Secondary School Students, and theInstructor Resource Manuals for Dynamic Physical Education for Elementary School Children, andDynamic Physical Education for Secondary School Students.
