Burns Chapter 12 Congenital Deformities of the Forefoot Albert E. BurnsReviewsTo the best of my knowledge, Lesser Forefoot Surgery is the only textbook dedicated to the assessment and management of deformities of the digits and metatarsals two through five. In this text the well-known editor, Dr. Joshua Gerbert and contributors Drs. Burns, Clark and Jenkins share their expertise in well organized and readable format. The book will not only be of value to students and residents beginning their career, but will also provide advice and insight to the experienced foot surgeon. The textbook focuses not only on surgical procedures but on an understanding of the deformities, clinical assessment, and management options, as well as post operative management and complications. Although the text may focus on a small part of the human anatomy, the content presented is comprehensive. The text addresses the gamut of the pathology including management of digital deformities, metatarsalgia, metatarsal osteotomy, and Tailor's bunion to the more complex issues such as arthritic deformities, amputations and congenital deformities. The textbook is well written and well organized with abundant illustrations and photographs. The chapter formats are easy to follow and allows the reader to easily find exactly the topics they may be researching. I highly recommend this textbook to anyone who is interested in and performs foot surgery, either just starting out in their career or the experienced professional. - Vincent J.
