Clearly written, well referenced and informed by a concern with `lived experience', it can be read with profit by lawyers, probation officers, police and others, students of all these professions and indeed by LGBTI people and others interested in progressive change in society. (Brian Dempsey, SCOLAG, March, 2017) The authors retrace the evolution of legislation regarding LGBT people, through to the right to same-sex marriage in 2014 - but also deal with the controversies which bring about, within LGBT communities, the struggle to obtain these rights which takes precedence at the expense of other issues.
