The citizens of the county were sympatric to the Confederate side during the Civil War. Many of her residents belonged to the famous Kentucky Orphan Brigade. This book has many of the usual topics being discussed: early history, creation of the county, early settlements, government, churches, economics, early hangings and etc.. Over half of the book is devoted to biographical sketches of these early residents of the county.
