Michael D. Broeker, 46 lives with his wife, Amy, his two teenage daughters, Chloe and Isabelle and the family mutt, Pyper. His oldest daughter, Caitlyn is off to college. Living with five brown-eyed girls - including Pyper - in a one bathroom house, Michael found peace in crosswords. First in solving them and now in compiling them. In 2009 brought this author's biggest challenge. He was diagnosed with an unknown viral disease that nearly took his life. In September of that year he was admitted to the hospital and quickly induced in a coma. He stayed in that state for the next four weeks fighting for his life with less than a 5% of survival. Doctor's doubted, if he survived, he would be able to return to work, drive a car or discern crossword puzzles. After 81 days in the hospital including a rigorous rehab program he went home. In mid-January he returned to his career in sales. His ability to do crosswords of all kinds continued as well. In January 2014 he began compiling crosswords and continues to do so today.
