Gerhard Girmscheid, Jahrgang 1949, studierte Bauingenieurwesen in Darmstadt. Nach seiner Promotion 1983 war er in leitender Funktion für namhafte deutsche Bauunternehmen tätig. Seit 1996 ist er Professor für Bauprozess- und Bauunternehmensmanagement am Institut für Bau- und Infrastrukturmanagement der ETH Zürich. Professor Girmscheid ist Spezialist für Bauverfahren und Bauprozesse des Hoch- und Tiefbaus sowie strategisches und operatives Bauunternehmensmanagement. Gerhard Girmscheid ist Mitherausgeber der Fachzeitschrift ""Bauingenieur"" und Autor bzw. Mitautor mehrerer Fachbücher.
