Overview

A legal scretary is potentially one of the most valuable assets in any legal office. Well-trained secretarial staff ease the burden on fee earners, and should help to provide clients with a better service. However, without any basic understanding of how the law works, or familiarity with the forms and documents most commonly used, the legal secretary's job can be daunting and confusing. This is a practical guide for legal secretaries which should enable them to approach their work with increased confidence, and ultimately do a better job. Of particular assistance are the numerous specimen forms and documents which have been completed by the author. These examples indicate the best way of filling in such forms, and they should be useful as a reference. As well as covering most areas of the law, the book identifies the people who work in the law and the structure of the courts. It contains a section on etiquette and a helful list of addresses and telephone numbers. It should be suitable for someone thinking of becoming a legal secretary, or for the experienced legal secretary who wants to know more. This revised edition brings the subject up to date with the changes in the law which affect a legal secretary's work.
