OverviewExcerpt from Legal and Judicial History of New York Had no convention been favored at the special election last April, resort could have been had to the method of amendment first provided in 1822. This has become the vehicle for numerous amendments, some of profound importance. For example, eleven distinct amendments were submitted November 3, 1874. This is the largest num ber submitted in any one year. In 1905, seven amendments were voted upon; in 1909, four. The relative smallness of the vote upon such amendments - in fact, of the vote upon the work Of a constitutional convention - is the sub jcet of comment in subsequent pages. Some remedy should be sought by the coming convention. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
