OverviewChristian Felix Klein, a German mathematician and mathematics educator, recognized for his work in group theory, multiple studies, non-Euclidean geometry, and on the connections between geometry and group theory. His Erlangen Program, classifying geometries by their underlying symmetry groups, was a highly influential synthesis of much of the mathematics. Erlangen elected Klein professor when he was only 23. Clebsch strongly supported him, who regarded him as likely to become a leading mathematician. Klein was happy to be offered a chair at Munich's Technische Hochschule. There he and Alexander von Brill taught forward courses to many excellent students, including, Karl Rohn, Carl Runge, Adolf Hurwitz, Walther von Dyck, Max Planck, Luigi Bianchi, and Gregorio Ricci-Curbastro.
