OverviewMany of the daughters of educated Jewish families were among the first female medical students in Bonn. The later female doctoral candidates with top grades paved the academic path for the following generations of female students, without having had female professional role models themselves. Regardless of early professional success, after the end of the First World War, many of these doctors suffered from considerable reservations from their colleagues and from disadvantages in terms of recruitment. In 1933, the initial exclusion and subsequent persecution by the National Socialists began. Not all of them managed to flee abroad. However, some made a successful new start there. After fleeing Nazi Germany, former Jewish students from Bonn practiced as doctors in eight different countries, including Bulgaria, Chile, Palestine and Turkey. They have never been able to forget the injustice done to them. Full Product DetailsAuthor: Birgit FormanskiPublisher: V&R unipress GmbH Imprint: V&R unipress GmbH Edition: 1. Auflage ed.
