Overview

"When a gay man or woman is faced with the reality that a growing and vibrant life in Jesus Christ is incompatible with their sexual attractions, what exactly does he or she do? What steps can be taken toward leaving the gay life and identity? In this accessible book Alan Chambers, president of Exodus International, explains the process and clarifies the expectations for those who are skeptical of change or frustrated by an ongoing struggle with same-sex attraction. Readers will learn how to enter into a new life in Christ, set realistic and healthy expectations, build authentic community, learn to forgive, overcome the power of sexual addiction. Men and women of all ages who struggle with same-sex attraction will find ""Leaving Homosexuality"" indispensable in their own walk of faith. This is an excellent resource to give to those who haven't yet heard that there is a new life of freedom beyond homosexuality available to them."

This moving account of Alan's personal journey out of homosexuality offers solid answers and real hope to men and women struggling with same-sex attraction. This book is a must-read for those searching for an honest, biblically based account of how freedom from homosexuality can occur in the body of Christ! -Bill Maier, psychologist in residence, Focus on the Family As one who has gone through the struggle of 'leaving homosexuality' personally, all I can say is 'where was this book 27 years ago?!' What a wonderful resource for those who find themselves in the midst of that struggle! Written with great compassion, this book exudes the convicting truth of Christ and clearly conveys realistic expectations facing those who struggle. Leaving Homosexuality is a beacon of hope bathed in the love of Jesus Christ! -Dennis Jernigan, author, song writer, recording artist Alan supports the truth that 'Yes, you can!' Change is possible. Leaving homosexuality is possible. If anyone can speak honestly and lovingly and hopefully, it is Alan Chambers. -Dr. Nancy Heche Schoeberl As a psychiatrist, I have lovingly counseled hundreds of homosexual clients over the past 34 years for a wide variety of conditions. Some wanted to only work on their depression and didn't want to even discuss their sexual orientation. Others were more concerned with their attractions and how to handle them. Was change possible, they wondered. I was able to assure them that, yes, change is not only possible but predictable with the right kinds of therapy to repair issues from their past. That is why I am very pleased with Alan Chamber's new book, Leaving Homosexuality. Why shouldn't a homosexual who chooses to change be free to do so? And now, for those who do choose to pursue change, Leaving Homosexuality gives the stepping-stones necessary. I highly recommend it. -Paul Meier MD, author and founder of Meier Clinics In a world of sexual confusion this book is a compass that points the way to freedom with compassion and clarity. I applaud Alan for having the courage and transparency to write it. I truly believe it is a book for our time and for every person dealing with homosexuality. -Jimmy Evans, president and founder, MarriageToday Ministries The true Church has been consistent with their stand against homosexuality but less faithful in providing an adequate answer for those who struggle with same-sex attractions. Leaving Homosexuality makes a major contribution in correcting this deficiency and offers hope to those who long for a righteous relationship with their heavenly Father. -Dr. Neil T. Anderson, founder and president emeritus, Freedom in Christ Ministries, author of The Bondage Breaker(R) Alan is brutally honest and transparent about his former life style and the struggle of becoming the person God intended him to be. His many years of faithful, effective ministry have proven God's transforming power is sufficient and lasting. This book gives hope to the homosexual, their family, and friends. -Dr. George O. Wood, General Superintendent, The General Council of the Assemblies of God
