Reviews

Learning with Ernie - Diversity is a wonderful story for children to learn about diversity and bullying in a lovable story. Libraries, schools, and homes will want this book on their shelves because it's a wonderful story about a girl and her dog with subtle messages of how to handle bullying and accept diversity. Author Jennifer R. Robinson has created a story about a girl and her dog who are picked on by other children in the park. But, Emmy the main character and Ernie her dog confront the kids in the park and demonstrate how children can handle bullies. This book provides comeback phrases that children can use when someone is making fun of them because they're different. The full-color illustrations by Stefanie St. Denis and Jennifer R. Robinson demonstrate diversity in the park with different dog breeds and children with diverse backgrounds. Children will love the beautiful artwork and will fall in love with the adorable dogs in Learning with Ernie - Diversity. Bold, bright colors will help draw children into the book and the story will keep them reading it again and again. Writing in rhyming form, author Jennifer R. Robinson provides a fun, easy-to-read story that children will enjoy. I think all readers will want to adopt this adorable pup and fall in love with Ernie's big brown eyes. Teachers and parents will want to read this lovable story with its subtle theme of acceptance. I think teachers and caregivers will want to print page 21 to hang on the wall of the classroom. --Barbara Fanson, Readers' Favorite
