The key strength of this book is its simplicity. While there are many books available that are all-encompassing or broad in scope, Speaking Better French has a single goal: To make you into a better French speaker. Everything the author does is towards this end. The examples are drawn from everyday life, and the expressions are the ones actual French speakers regularly use (imagine that!). What I like about Speaking Better French is Saul Rosenthaul's plain-speaking clarity in his writing: For every expression, he explains the context, application, and - where applicable - variations. He spends a lot of time writing about the differences between formal and informal speech, and I found this approach highly beneficial in advancing my understanding of the French language.
