OverviewDo you need a book about Black Canadian history? My name is LTtheMonk, and I think you need to learn something new. Something you weren't taught in school, stories of unsung Black Canadian heroes, forgotten communities, and why the Klan got so big in Canada. You'll be amazed you didn't know these stories before, why Martin Luther King Jr. & Malcolm X have some pretty deep ties to Ontario & Quebec, why the first hockey league in the world started in Nova Scotia, and why Canadians across the country can't let go of the Confederate flag. With this book all these stories will be yours, and maybe you can even share them with that colleague who didn't know slavery existed in Canada, or the friend who thought racism only occurred below the border. Enjoy reading, and support the mission to educate Canadians on Black history! Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationLTtheMonk is an artist, content creator and speaker from London, UK, who has called Canada home since 2017. On social media his videos explore the often hidden stories of Black Canadian history, educating the public on topics they weren't taught in school through entertaining street interviews, and one-on-one deep dives. LT brings history into the modern day with cultural conversations that look at how we can use the past to understand ourselves today, shown through a 2025 collaboration with CBC, in which he travelled the streets of Toronto and Los Angeles to ask participants what Americans and people globally can learn about the rich culture of the Black Canadian population. As an Arts Educator with the Art Gallery Of Hamilton, from 2020-2025 LT led workshops with students between the ages of 8-18 in over 50 schools in the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board, Hamilton Wentworth Catholic District School Board, Northern Ontario, and in the provinces of Newfoundland, Alberta & Manitoba. And to begin 2026 LT hosted the Canadian Union Of Public Employees Toronto Local 79's Black History Month Celebration, the anti-racism Stay Sensitized Conference in Ajax, and has conducted workshops at multiple schools in the Greater Toronto Area.
