Author Information

After earning a BFA in creative writing, Omaha, NE resident Sally Walker started her full-time writing career over thirty years ago and quickly won acclaim for her stage plays and screenplays, internationally published poetry, non-fiction, and fiction. Amazon.com listed The Fiction Works-published novels by Sally, as well as two adult literacy anthologies, TELL ME OF LOVE and THE REAL WEST, containing her work. The collection of 365 essays A WRITER'S YEAR came out in electronic format in early 2011 and three screenwriting textbooks (electronic versions) in 2012 (that evolved into AAE's two expanded textbooks). Four fiction textbooks will follow, as well as more novels, novella collections, and juvenile works. Wife of a bagpipe-playing, retired engineer and mother of three grown daughters (with a flock of eight grandchildren), this retired critical care R.N. was Editorial Director for The Fiction Works, a traditional small publishing company offering electronic, print and audio material. For ten years she was also a staff writer for two international film industry magazines, providing craft articles and interviews. Recommended for her analytical skills by members of the UCLA Film Department, she serves as an annual screenplay judge for one film festival and a national competition. Sally currently has 33 screenplays on her resume. Her writing affiliations have included a study-critique group she founded called the Nebraska Writers Workshop, Romance Writers of America, Western Writers of America, and the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators. She served as the '07-11 president of a state-wide writers organization. Besides presenting writing seminars on a regular basis for her local community college, Sally is their adjunct professor of credit classes in screenwriting. She has taught screenwriting at RT's annual convention and the Moondance International Film Festival, as well as a variety of courses for many on-line venues including several chapters of RWA, a Sisters-in-Crime chapter, and the eclectic, international list SavvyAuthors.com. She has coached over 5,000 students since presenting her first creative writing seminar in 1987. Among her proudest achievements has been a mentored teen 2013 acceptance to and 2017 graduation from the NYU Tisch Film School and a second teen start there in 2016.
