Author Information

Sam Nolan is Professor and Deputy Director at the Durham Centre for Academic Development where he leads Durham’s Education Laboratory. Sam’s scholarship interests include widening participation in Higher Education, virtualisation of laboratory learning, augmented reality and the use of active learning pedagogies to enhance student engagement all of which he actively publishes on. For the national impact of his work, Sam has been awarded National Teaching Fellow status and a Principal Fellowship of the HEA. Steve Hutchinson is a freelance developer, consultant, leadership coach and author who started as a zoologist and then moved fields. He led programmes within UK universities and then established his company that has fronted leadership development initiatives and coached academic teachers and leaders all over the world. As an author and editor, his work includes books on Doctoral Supervision, Researcher Development, Coaching and Mentoring and Experiential Learning.
